50 Uses for Rubber Stamps – Part 3 (Holiday Tradition)

holiday cookie tradition

We’re back with part 3 of our 50 Uses for Rubber Stamps series. Part 3 is continuing on the subject of holiday season which is now in full swing! There are so many uses for your new rubber stamp this year. You might even use it to start a new holiday tradition. Here are some more great ideas to help you narrow down what kind of stamp you need.

12. Customize Coasters (wood or chipboard)

Tired of your boring old wood or chipboard coasters? Rather than spending money on new ones, refresh the ones you already have with your new custom holiday stamp! Just make sure put some sort of waterproof sealant over it to ensure the ink doesn’t bleed.

13. Decorate an Apron for the Chef

Does your family get together over a giant home cooked feast over the holidays? Someone has to cook all that food. Give the chef a little love this year by decorating a holiday apron for them to wear. Get the kids together and make it a family activity. Let them surprise their favorite chef!

14. Decorate Paper or Cloth Napkins

Sick of seeing the same old cloth napkins year after year? Don’t want to have the same generic paper napkins as everyone else? Decorate your napkins with some holiday cheer! Use your custom rubber stamp to make a border, stamp a pattern, or just go crazy stamping everywhere. Get the kids involved and make it a family activity, maybe even a new holiday tradition!

15. Spice Up Paper Plates and Cups

Tired of washing all those holiday dishes? Don’t want to use the same old paper plates and cups that everyone else is using? Spice up your disposable dishware with a custom holiday rubber stamp. Make them match your new napkins and coasters or make each one a unique design. The power is in your hands.

16. Add Some Style to a Tablecloth

What about a new tablecloth to match your dishware, napkins, and coasters? Impress your family and friends with a homemade matching set this year courtesy of your custom holiday rubber stamp. Make it a new holiday tradition.

17. Spice Up an Old Tradition by Decorating Desserts With Stamp Impressions

What holiday feast is complete without dessert? Cookies and sweets are an important tradition in most holidays. Decorate your cookies this year by stamping impressions with a clean and sterilized rubber stamp. Try making fun impressions in cookie dough and icing.

Safety disclaimer: You should never use a stamp that has–or has had in the past–ink in it. You should also never attempt to use any type of food coloring in place of ink in self-inking or pre-inked stamps. Only use brand new stamps without ink that have been cleaned and sterilized.

How to Choose the Right Refill Ink

Pre-Inked and Self-Inking Stamp Refill Ink

When your stamp runs out of ink, it can become a useless paperweight. Prevent this from happening to you by stocking up on rubber stamp refill ink. Here at the Rubber Stamp Station, we sell many different ink colors for our high-quality Trodat rubber stamps.

How to Select Your Refill Ink

Never ordered rubber stamp replacement ink before? That’s ok. We’re always happy to help. Here are a few tips from our rubber stamp experts to get you started:

  • The type of refill ink you need depends on the brand of stamp that you have. Each brand is designed differently. Therefore, they take different kinds of ink.
    • If you use a cheap, off-brand ink with a Trodat stamp, the ink might be too thick or too thin, causing the stamp to leak and make a mess or gum up and be permanently ruined.
  • Similarly, the various stamp models of each brand require certain types of ink. Therefore, it’s essential to order the ink that is specifically created for the brand, model, and size of your rubber stamp.
    • When ordering stamp pads, if the pad isn’t the right size, it will need to be cut to fit. This is always messy, and if the pads aren’t cut just right, they can shift. Again, this can cause leakage and gum up your stamp.

Our Selection of Rubber Stamp Ink

Here at Rubber Stamp Station, we don’t just sell stamps. We also provide refill ink for our rubber stamps to ensure you get the most out of your investment. We keep a full stock of all of the following replacement inks:

  • Trodat refill ink: Our Trodat ink comes in black, blue, green, red, and violet. This refill ink is for use with our stamp pads.
  • Trodat replacement pads for self-inking stamps: We stock ink for all models of Trodat self-inking stamps, including Printy, Ideal and Professional. These replacement pads are for the self-inking stamps only.
  • Stamp pads: We offers stamp pads in three different sizes. These are the stamp pads for rubber hand stamps. Please note that these stamp pads are not to be used with the self-inking stamps.

No matter what Trodat stamp you use, we have the replacement ink you need to keep it working for years to come.

Fraud Prevention Tips For Businesses

fraud prevention

In any job, safety and confidentiality are a top priority. Preventing company materials from falling into the wrong hands is vital to company security. It is also vital for preventing them from being used to commit forgery or fraud. Here are some helpful tips from the experts at Rubber Stamp Station to help prevent your company’s information from falling into the wrong hands.

Always Secure Custom Notary Stamps and Embossers to Prevent Fraud

Those who work in the notary field should already know how vital it is that notary stamps and embossers do not fall into the wrong hands. If someone else were to get their hands on your custom notary stamp or embosser, they could use them to commit fraud and forgery.

If your notary stamp or embosser were to ever go missing, always be sure to report it to the police immediately. It would also be wise to change the design of the stamp and even the color of the ink when you go to order a new one. This ensures that any forgeries made with your old stamp are easily identifiable going forward.

Keep Track of Your Official Letterhead and Return Address Stamps

These stamps may streamline your day and save time at the office. However, they also make it easier for someone to forge official company documents. Unlike handwriting, no one can tell the difference between two different people using the same stamp.

Like with a notary stamp or embosser, immediately notify someone if your stamps go missing. In some cases, this may be your direct supervisor. They will probably want to make the decision on whether or not to call the police. Also, be sure to change your letter head or return address stamp when you order a new one. This way forgeries made with your old stamp can be more easily spotted.

Order Replacement Stamps Right Here at Rubber Stamp Station!

Changing the ink pad in your self-inking stamp

self-inking stamp

Self-inking stamps like the self-inking Trodat “Printy” stamp make much less mess than stamps that need a separate ink pad for every use. They eliminate the need for ink pads and reduce the risk of ink stains on fingers and clothes. But self-inking stamps still require ink that needs to be changed periodically to maintain that quality, mess-free performance we all love. Replacing the dried up Trodat ink in your self-inking stamp is simple.

Purchase a Replacement Pad

It is important to ensure that the replacement pad is an exact match to your Trodat self-inking stamp. Ink pads cannot be cut to fit or used interchangeably. Simply match the model number of the stamp to the model number of the Printy replacement pad to ensure the correct fit. All of the replacement pads can be found on our website.

Necessary Supplies

  • Sheet of scrap paper
  • Trodat replacement pad
  • Your self-inking stamp

Steps to Replace the Pad

Step 1

Place your stamp on the sheet of scrap paper so that the Trodat logo faces away from you.

Step 2

Locate the thin rectangular insert that indicates the currently installed pad.

Step 3

Press down on the top of the stamp while pressing the small buttons on the sides of the top part of the stamp.

Step 4

Turn the stamp around so the Trodat logo faces you and press the button below the logo.

Step 5

You should see the ink pad pop out slightly from the other side of the stamp.

Step 6

Pull out the old ink pad.

Step 7

Unwrap the new ink pad and insert into the chamber with the inked side face up.

Step 8

Press down on the top of the stamp to lock the pad into place.

Step 9

Use the scrap paper to do a few test prints. Once you get a print with even ink coverage, you are ready to go!

Step 10

Recycle the old ink pad. All Trodat ink is non-toxic.

If you need help replacing the ink pad in your self-inking stamp, just give us a call 1 (850) 7STAMPS for assistance. Our customer service department is more than happy to help with any of your rubber stamp needs!

Quick Tips for Cleaning Ink off Skin and Fabrics

When using rubber stamps, there is always a risk of getting ink on yourself or your clothes. Don’t panic! Here are some quick tips from your Trodat rubber stamp experts at the Rubber Stamp Station on how to remove ink from your hands and clothes.

Cleaning Ink Off Bare Skin

If you get ink on your skin, you only need a few supplies to clean it off:

  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Paper towels
  • Gojo (or similar soap containing pumice)

It is simple enough to clean most of the ink off bare skin with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel. Once a majority of the ink has been removed, you can simply wash the rest of it off with warm water and a soap containing pumice such as Gojo. Any leftover discoloration of the skin should disappear within 24 hours.

If you are unlucky enough to get the ink on clothing or upholstery, the cleaning process gets a little more complicated. There are several options to try.

Cleaning Ink Off Fabrics

Option 1

You will need a few supplies:

  • 1 quart warm water
  • ½ tsp. dishwashing detergent
  • 1 tbsp. ammonia

All these ingredients get mixed together to create a solution in which the stained fabric should be soaked for half an hour. After soaking, the fabric should be rinsed well in warm water. If some ink still remains, it is time to move on to the next option.

Option 2

This is not a good option for cotton or linen based fabrics, but should work on most others. The supplies you will need include:

  • 1 quart of warm water
  • 1 tbsp. white vinegar

These should be mixed to create a solution in which the stained fabric should be soaked for one hour before rinsing in warm water. If some staining still remains, there is a third option to try.

Option 3

This option requires:

  • Rubbing alcohol diluted with warm water in a 1:1 ratio
  • Paper towels or cotton balls

Dilute the rubbing alcohol with warm water and use a paper towel or cotton ball to apply the solution directly to the stain. Hold the solution over the stain until it begins to loosen. When the stain begins to loosen, gently dab it away. Depending on the size and severity of the stain, you may need to reapply this several times before the stain begins to dissipate. Once you have gotten as much of the stain out as possible, rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Keys to Success

  1. Always use warm water as this will loosen the stain and make your job easier. Cold water will set the stain and make cleaning ink stains that much more difficult.
  2. The sooner you remove the stain, the more you will be able to get out. The longer you wait, the less you will be able to salvage, especially with delicate fabrics.

We hope you get that stain out! On the other hand, you may want to leave a mark on fabric—you can use a clothing marker stamp to leave an identifying impression on clothes, towels, uniforms, etc. Never lose a garment or accessory again!

If you have any questions about our rubber stamps or the ordering process on our website, give us a call at 1 (850) 7STAMPS. We look forward to chatting with you!

Tips for Scrapbooking with Rubber Stamps

Scrapbooking Rubber Stamps

Are you a crafter looking to spice up the pages of your scrapbooks? Search no further than scrapbooking rubber stamps! There are many possible ways in which you can use these handy tools for your scrapbooking projects. Here are just a few of them:

  • To add personalized text to a page
  • To decorate a page with colorful logos that relate to the theme
  • To emphasize something specific on a page, such as a photo or a caption
  • To make the whole theme of a page stand out

This is just a short list of the options you’ll have when you incorporate scrapbooking rubber stamps into your project toolkit. Now that you’ve been introduced to the versatility of rubber stamps for scrapbooking, it’s time to discuss some best practices for using these stamps:

  • Scrapbooking paper can be expensive, so you want to avoid wasting it. Therefore, we recommend always testing out your stamps on a piece of scrap paper before using them in your scrapbooks. Doing so will allow you to get a feel for how much pressure you need to apply in order to get a crisp, even impression.
  • Another tip for using scrapbooking rubber stamps is to stand up while stamping, especially when using larger stamps. This position will allow you to easily gauge how much pressure you are applying to the stamp, which can be difficult to do when you are sitting down. In turn, there will be less of a chance that your stamp impression will end up looking uneven.
  • Getting the spacing right when adding stamps to your scrapbook pages can be tricky. To work around this, we suggest stamping onto a smaller piece of paper and then adding it to the page as an embellishment. Using this trick will ensure that a lopsided stamp impression doesn’t ruin your page and allow you to use up those smaller pieces of paper. Plus, you can use decorative edge scissors on your embellishments to make them look fancy.

When you follow these simple tips, scrapbooking with rubber stamps will be a breeze!

What To Do When a Notary Stamp Goes Missing

Custom Notary Stamps

If your job requires you to use custom notary stamps and/or embossers, surely you know that it’s important to make sure these products don’t fall into the wrong hands since they can be used to commit forgery or fraud. So what should you do if you misplace one of your notary stamps or you suspect that one may have been stolen? Here is the procedure we here at Rubber Stamp Station suggest following:

  1. When you realize that a notary stamp is missing, you should alert your state’s notary public administrator as soon as possible. Depending on your state, the process for doing so might entail sending in a form or calling the state’s office. In addition, you may also need to obtain authorization to order a replacement notary stamp. If this is the case, you should request this at the same time as you report the stamp missing so that you can get a new one right away.
  2. Next, report the missing stamp to a local law enforcement establishment. Provide them with a detailed description of the stamp, including its shape, brand, ink color and size. Also consider giving them a sketch of the stamp’s design.
  3. Once you’ve reported your stamp missing, it’s time to order a new custom notary stamp. This stamp should be different from your old one in terms of shape, size and ink color if possible. You may also want to change your notary signature and name for extra protection just in case an unauthorized individual got ahold of your old stamp.
  4. Finally, be sure to keep all of the documents involved in the process just in case you need them in the future. Make a record of the steps you took after losing your custom notary stamp and write down the date that you started using your new one.

Losing a notary stamp can be a stressful experience. When you follow these steps, however, you can rest assured that you have correctly handled the situation.

5 Tips for Re-Inking Pre-Inked and Self-Inking Stamps

Pre-Inked and Self-Inking Stamps

When it comes to taking care of your Trodat pre-inked and self-inking stamps, there isn’t a whole lot to do. However, there are a few simple yet crucial steps that you should take if you want to extend the life of your stamps. The first is to store the stamps in a location that doesn’t get too hot or too cold – that one’s simple. The second step is to refill the ink in your self-inking and pre-inked stamps whenever you notice that the impressions are becoming less vivid than they used to be. This step is a bit more involved, so we’re here to give you some pointers to use when it comes time to re-ink:

  1. Don’t delay re-inking. It’s important that you don’t keep using your stamp once the impression starts to fade. Letting the stamp get too low on ink may interfere with its ability to properly absorb ink moving forward.
  2. Make sure you choose the correct ink for your stamp model and type. For instance, if you’re using the Ideal 200 self-inking stamp, purchase ink that says it is for use in this stamp in the description. As a rule of thumb, only oil-based inks should be used in pre-inked stamps and only water-based inks should be used in self-inking stamps. Using the incorrect formula for your stamp type can damage it and may even render it unusable.
  3. Re-ink your stamp using the same ink color you were using previously. For both pre-inked and self-inking stamps, switching to a different ink color isn’t a good idea. There will probably be some of the old color left and it will blend with the new one, likely leading to a less-than-desirable color.
  4. Check the ink pad. In addition to re-inking, keep in mind that you may also need to replace the ink pad if you have a self-inking stamp. These pads can wear out naturally over time with use.
  5. Slowly add ink to pre-inked and self-inking stamps. Adding just a few drops at a time will prevent overfilling and keep you from wasting ink. If you accidentally add a bit too much, gently dab it off the surface using a paper towel.

By following these tips and tricks, you’ll keep your self-inking and pre-inked stamps in top condition, allowing you to use them for years to come.

Need Stamps? Look No Further Than RubberStampStation.com!
